Trenchless Sewer Repair

Conventional – ”old school” – sewer replacement involves digging big, long trenches in order to get at the damaged pipe and replace it. Today,  trenchless sewer repair has come close to doing away with all that. While these invasive methods are still being used, they are no longer common. Trenchless sewer repair is both minimally-invasive and non-destructive. Sewer pipe lining and pipe bursting are both trenchless sewer repair methods. Trenchless methods save you money because you don’t need to replace walls, kitchens, tiles, or landscaping after the sewer repair is done.

Sewer Pipe Lining

Sewer pipe lining, also known as trenchless pipe lining, cured-in-place-pipe lining (CIPP), or just pipe lining, is a trenchless sewer repair method that creates a new pipe within your existing, damaged pipe. Here’s how it works…

The first step with pipe lining is always a sewer camera inspection. We measure your pipe and have a look at what’s going on inside it. We then clean and descale the pipe using either hydro jetting or a mechanical method. When the pipe is thoroughly clean, we take a felt-like tube liner that has been saturated with a special two-part epoxy resin and insert it into the pipe. Inside this liner is an inflatable bladder. After we insert the liner into the pipe, we inflate the bladder with compressed air.

The compressed air causes the liner to expand and press up against the inside walls of the pipe, taking its shape. The special epoxy fills all the cracks, tiny holes, and any broken joints. We then leave the liner to cure for several hours, after which it is deflated and removed. The end result is a brand new pipe within your old, damaged pipe.
